Does Coast Capital work with Lodavo? Prospera and Sunshine Coast too

By Benjamin ThomasUpdated

Lodavo compatibility

Not available

Coast Capital, Prospera and Sunshine Coast have been one credit union since the 2026 merger, and none of the three connects yet. Link an account you hold elsewhere instead.

Connection
Not connectable through Plaid in Lodavo right now. Coverage can change, so check the connect screen in the app.
Account types
Chequing, savings, TFSA, term deposits

If you bank with Coast Capital, the honest answer today is no, and the same goes for Prospera and Sunshine Coast. We tested all three in the app: each one shows up when you go to connect a bank, and each one is refused before the account is linked. So this page explains where things actually stand, and what to link instead so you’re still in this week’s draw.

Why this one catches people out

Plaid’s Canadian coverage post names Coast Capital, right alongside Vancity and Conexus, and plenty of write-ups still repeat it. If that’s what you’ve read, you’d reasonably expect this to work.

Appearing in the list is not the same as completing a connection. Plaid’s current coverage table (opens in a new tab) makes the gap visible: it carries Coast Capital credit cards, and no Coast Capital chequing or savings. So the entry you tap is real, and today it just doesn’t lead anywhere. The only way to tell the two apart is to try it, which is what we did.

Prospera and Sunshine Coast members: the answer is the same

Coast Capital’s merger with Prospera Credit Union and Sunshine Coast Financial closed on 6 May 2026 (opens in a new tab), forming a credit union with 730,000 members and 70 branches. The three are now trade names of one federal credit union, but each still has its own entry when you go to connect an account.

So we tried all three. Coast Capital, Prospera and Sunshine Coast are each refused, with the same message about connections not being supported. There’s no brand to pick that gets you through, and no point hunting for the right one.

What to connect instead

Link the account your savings actually sit in at another institution. Nearly everything Canadian works:

Where you might bankConnects today
TD, Scotiabank, BMO, CIBC, National BankYes
EQ Bank, Simplii, WealthsimpleYes
Servus, Meridian, DesjardinsYes
RBC, TangerineYes, with a known quirk

You can link more than one and the balances add up. The full picture is on our directory of Canadian institutions. A self-directed investing account is the one thing Lodavo can’t track yet, so pick somewhere your money sits as cash.

Nothing about this touches your Coast Capital accounts

Because the connection doesn’t go through, nothing has been shared and nothing has changed. Your Coast Capital sign-in, your accounts, and your day-to-day banking are exactly as they were. Lodavo never sees or stores a bank login in any case, and even a successful connection is read-only, with no ability to move, withdraw, or charge anything.

Still worth setting up

Canadians aren’t saving much. The household saving rate slipped to 3.5% in the first quarter of 2026, the lowest since early 2024, according to Statistics Canada. Knowing you should save more has never been the hard part.

Prize-linked savings adds the part that’s missing, which is a reason to look forward to it. Link a balance you hold somewhere else and it earns free tickets in a weekly draw worth up to $10,000, with at least $100 always going to a user. Nothing moves, nothing gets locked up, and it costs nothing to take part.

Terms and conditions apply. No purchase necessary (alternate method of entry available). Skill-testing question required. Open to legal residents of Canada who are the age of majority. Odds depend on the number of eligible entries received. Full rules and odds at our contest rules.

Frequently asked questions

Can I connect my Coast Capital account to Lodavo?

Not at the moment. Coast Capital comes up in the list, but the connection is refused before the account is linked, so there's no way to earn tickets from a balance held there. An account at another Canadian bank or credit union will do the job instead.

Plaid lists Coast Capital, so why doesn't it work?

Being listed and being connectable are two different things. Plaid's Canadian coverage post does name Coast Capital, and that part is true. Its current coverage table is narrower: Coast Capital credit cards are in it, chequing and savings are not. We checked in the app rather than assuming, and the connection stops before the account is linked.

I'm a Prospera or Sunshine Coast member. Does mine work?

No, and we checked rather than assumed. Each brand still has its own entry in the app after the three credit unions merged in May 2026, so we tried all three, and each one is refused with the same message. Link an account you hold somewhere else instead.

What should I link instead?

Whichever account your savings actually sit in. The Big Six connect, so do EQ Bank, Simplii and Wealthsimple, and so do credit unions like Servus and Meridian. RBC and Tangerine connect for most people but carry a known quirk, which their own pages set out. You can link several and the balances are added together.

Will this change?

It might. Institution coverage shifts as banks and credit unions expand what they allow, and Coast Capital is a large federally regulated credit union that already appears in the network. We won't put a date on it. Connect something else in the meantime and check back.
