If you bank at Meridian, the short answer is yes: your account connects to Lodavo. Meridian is Ontario’s largest credit union and the third largest in the country, with more than 360,000 members and $27.3 billion in assets. Linking a chequing or savings balance takes about two minutes, and your money stays at Meridian throughout.
How to connect your Meridian account to Lodavo
- Get Lodavo (free) and set up your account.
- Search for Meridian when the app asks you to connect a bank. Searching by name beats scrolling, since the list covers a lot of Canadian institutions.
- Sign in through the secure Plaid connection, using the same member number and password you’d use at meridiancu.ca. You enter those details on that screen, never into Lodavo.
- Pick the Meridian account you’d like tracked. Done.
From there, each week you save earns you free tickets in that week’s draw.
Is it safe? What Lodavo can and can’t see
Yes. Plaid is the service Canadian apps use to connect to bank and credit union accounts, and it covers well over a hundred Canadian institutions beyond the big banks. Two things hold true at every step:
- Lodavo never sees or stores your Meridian sign-in. You authenticate on Plaid’s secure screen, and what reaches Lodavo is scoped, read-only access.
- The access stops at a balance. That one number is what your weekly tickets are based on. Lodavo can’t move money, withdraw, or charge anything, and your Meridian transaction history stays out of it.
Meridian was approved as a Payments Canada member (opens in a new tab) in March 2026, the first provincial credit union to join under the widened eligibility rules, which puts it a step closer to clearing payments directly rather than through a central. Unlink from inside Lodavo whenever you want.
Which Meridian account should you track?
Connect the account your savings actually sit in:
| Meridian account | Good to track if |
|---|---|
| Advantage Savings Account | You keep money set aside in a dedicated savings account |
| Unlimited Chequing Package | Your cushion builds up in your everyday account |
| High Interest Savings Account (TFSA) | You save inside a deposit-based Tax-Free Savings Account |
Link as many as you like and the balances add up. No minimum to start. A self-directed investing account is the one thing Lodavo can’t track yet, so stay with the accounts holding cash.
Troubleshooting a Meridian connection
- Search Meridian Credit Union in full rather than scrolling the list.
- Use your member number, not an email address, unless that’s genuinely how you sign in at meridiancu.ca.
- Complete any verification step Meridian prompts you with, such as a one-time code.
- If a linked account stops updating, reconnect it from inside Lodavo to refresh it.
Why prize-linked savings fits Meridian members
Canadians aren’t saving much. The household saving rate slipped to 3.5% in the first quarter of 2026, the lowest since early 2024, according to Statistics Canada. Rates on a savings account help, but they’ve never made anyone look forward to putting money away.
Prize-linked savings is the piece that does. Keep saving at Meridian, leave the money exactly where it is, and the balance earns free tickets in a weekly draw worth up to $10,000, with at least $100 always going to a user. You keep whatever rate Meridian already pays you, since nothing moves and nothing gets locked up. If you also bank somewhere else, the other Canadian institutions that connect are worth a look.
