If you bank with National Bank of Canada, the short answer is yes: National Bank works with Lodavo. National Bank is the sixth of Canada’s Big Six, serving 3.1 million clients as of early 2026, and it’s on Plaid’s Canadian network. Because Lodavo connects to your bank through Plaid with read-only access, a National Bank chequing, savings, or TFSA balance can be linked in a couple of minutes, with your money never leaving National Bank.

How to connect your National Bank account to Lodavo

Connecting takes about two minutes inside the Lodavo app:

  1. Download Lodavo (free) and create your account.
  2. Tap to connect a bank and choose National Bank of Canada from the list.
  3. Sign in through the secure Plaid connection. You enter your details on the bank-connection screen, not by handing your password to Lodavo.
  4. Pick the National Bank account you want Lodavo to track, and you’re done.

From then on, Lodavo reads your balance each week and turns what you have saved into free tickets for that week’s draw. You don’t move any money to set this up.

Is it safe? What Lodavo can and cannot see

Yes, it’s safe, and the design is deliberately limited. Two things are true every time:

  • Lodavo never sees your National Bank login. You authenticate through Plaid’s secure flow, and Lodavo receives scoped, read-only access, not your username and password.
  • Lodavo cannot touch your money. Read-only access lets Lodavo check your balance to award tickets. It cannot move, hold, withdraw, or charge anything. Your savings stay in your National Bank account, earning whatever National Bank already pays you.

That read-only limit is the whole point, and it’s how the weekly draw stays provably fair: Lodavo is a balance-reader, never a money-mover. You can disconnect National Bank from inside Lodavo whenever you want.

Which National Bank account should you track?

Connect the National Bank account where your savings actually sit. Most users link one of:

National Bank accountGood to track if
National Bank chequingYou keep a steady cushion in your everyday account
National Bank savingsYou set money aside in a dedicated savings account
National Bank TFSA (savings)You save inside a deposit-based Tax-Free Savings Account

You can connect more than one National Bank account, and the balances simply add up. The one thing Lodavo cannot track yet is an investment or brokerage account, such as a self-directed TFSA or a National Bank Direct Brokerage account, so stick to chequing and savings accounts where your money sits as a cash balance. Lodavo only reads the balance, so the more you keep saved across the accounts you choose, the more tickets you earn. There’s no minimum.

Troubleshooting a National Bank connection

If a connection doesn’t go through on the first try:

  • Make sure you’re entering your current National Bank login details on the secure connection screen, exactly as you would on National Bank’s own site.
  • Complete any verification step National Bank prompts you with (a one-time code, for example).
  • If a previously linked account stops updating, reconnect it from inside Lodavo to refresh the link.

Connections to big banks like National Bank are well supported, so most issues clear up with a quick reconnect.

Why prize-linked savings fits National Bank customers

Canadians aren’t saving much right now. The household saving rate slipped to 3.5% in the first quarter of 2026, the lowest since early 2024, according to Statistics Canada. Prize-linked savings is built for exactly that problem: it adds a fun reason to keep money set aside, without asking you to lock it up or move it.

There’s a nice bit of symmetry here too. National Bank is headquartered in Montreal, and after its 2025 acquisition of Canadian Western Bank it now reaches coast to coast. Lodavo is built in Montreal by a Canadian team. With Lodavo, you keep your money in your own National Bank account and still get a shot at winning. Save, earn tickets, and you’re entered into a free weekly draw for up to $10,000, with a guaranteed prize of at least $100 going to a user every week. It’s a small layer of upside on top of the bank you already use.

Terms and conditions apply. No purchase necessary (alternate method of entry available). Skill-testing question required. Open to legal residents of Canada who are the age of majority. Odds depend on the number of eligible entries received. Full rules and odds at our contest rules.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to connect my National Bank account to Lodavo?

Yes. You sign in through Plaid's secure connection and Lodavo receives read-only access to your balance only. Lodavo never sees or stores your National Bank login, and it can never move money. Your funds stay in your National Bank account the whole time.

Does Lodavo see my National Bank transactions or move my money?

Lodavo only needs your account balance to award weekly draw tickets. It cannot move, hold, or withdraw money, and it cannot change anything about your National Bank account. The access is read-only.

Which National Bank account should I connect?

Connect any National Bank chequing or savings account where you keep money set aside, and you can link more than one. A deposit-based TFSA works too. Lodavo reads the balance and turns what you save into free draw tickets. It cannot track an investment or brokerage account yet, so link a chequing or savings account.

Will connecting National Bank to Lodavo affect my online banking?

No. Connecting to Lodavo doesn't change your National Bank login, your app, or how you bank. You can disconnect from inside Lodavo at any time.
