Does PC Financial work with Lodavo? What you can connect instead

By Benjamin Thomas Updated

Tested in-app: the PC Money Account doesn’t come through as a connectable account, despite President’s Choice appearing in Plaid’s Canadian coverage. Link another Canadian account instead.

If you bank with PC Financial, the honest answer today is no. We tested it, and the PC Money Account doesn’t come through as a connectable account in Lodavo. That surprises people, so this page explains where things actually stand and what to link instead so you’re still in this week’s draw.

Why this one catches people out

Most “does my bank work” questions have an obvious answer. This one doesn’t, for two good reasons.

President’s Choice Bank is a genuine CDIC member, not a prepaid app, so there’s no reason to assume it would behave differently from any other Canadian bank. And Plaid publicly named President’s Choice in a 2019 post about expanding its Canadian coverage, which is exactly the kind of thing you’d point at to say “this should work”.

What matters, though, is what happens on the connect screen in the app. We checked, and the PC Money Account doesn’t come through. Coverage differs by product and shifts over time, and none of it is something Lodavo controls.

Pick the account your savings actually sit in. If you keep a chequing or savings account anywhere besides PC Financial, that’s the one:

  1. Install Lodavo, which is free.
  2. Start a bank connection and find your other bank in the list.
  3. Sign in on Plaid’s screen, which sends your details to the bank and not to us.
  4. Pick the account you want tracked.

Your tickets then follow that balance, week to week. Save more, get more. The banks directory shows every institution we know about and where each one stands.

Which accounts do connect?

Your accountConnects to Lodavo?
PC Money AccountNot right now
Chequing or savings at TD, RBC, BMO, Scotiabank, CIBC or National BankYes
EQ Bank, Tangerine or SimpliiYes
Wealthsimple ChequingYes
Most credit unions, Desjardins includedYes

There’s no minimum balance, and linking a second account simply adds the two together.

Worth saying plainly: none of this costs you anything at PC Financial. Your points keep piling up on the groceries and gas you were buying anyway, because PC Optimum is Loblaw’s program and Lodavo has nothing to do with your card or your spending.

Yes, and it’s worth knowing how narrow the access is. You sign in through Plaid (opens in a new tab), the same connection Canadian fintechs have relied on for years, and two limits apply from that point on:

  • Your sign-in never reaches us. It goes to your bank on Plaid’s own screen. What Lodavo receives back is a restricted token, never a password or a card number.
  • We only ever see a balance. Read-only, on the one account you picked, so we can award tickets for what you’ve saved. Your purchase history isn’t part of the deal.

Unlink whenever you like, from inside the app. The mechanics are all written up in how Lodavo keeps your money safe and the draw provably fair.

Could PC Financial connect later?

There’s a real reason to think so, which isn’t something we’d say about every unsupported bank. EQB completed its acquisition of President’s Choice Bank on July 1, 2026, and has said PC clients will eventually move onto the EQ Bank platform. EQ Bank connects to Lodavo today. Whether that conversion brings PC accounts along with it, and when, is not ours to promise.

So treat today’s answer as today’s answer. If you’re linking an account anyway, link the one that works now and get on with saving.

Why bother with prize-linked savings at all

Canadians aren’t putting much aside. The household saving rate fell to 3.5% in the first quarter of 2026, according to Statistics Canada (opens in a new tab). PC Financial is genuinely good at paying you back for spending. Saving is the part nobody makes interesting.

That’s the gap Lodavo aims at. Whatever bank you link, the balance you keep there earns free tickets, every week’s draw pays up to $10,000, and at least $100 goes to a user every single week. A modest week still puts you in it. If the idea is new to you, start with how prize-linked savings works in Canada.

Terms and conditions apply. No purchase necessary (alternate method of entry available). Skill-testing question required. Open to legal residents of Canada who are the age of majority. Odds depend on the number of eligible entries received. Full rules and odds at our contest rules.

Frequently asked questions

Can I connect my PC Money Account to Lodavo?

Not at the moment. The PC Money Account doesn't appear as a connectable account in Lodavo, so there's no way to earn tickets from the balance you keep there. Anything you hold at another Canadian bank will do the job instead.

Plaid lists President's Choice, so why doesn't it work?

Plaid did name President's Choice in a post about its Canadian coverage back in 2019, which is why people expect this to work. Coverage differs by product and shifts over time, and what matters here is what actually happens at the connect screen. We checked, and the account doesn't come through.

What should I link instead?

Whichever account your savings actually sit in. Chequing and savings accounts at the Big Six all connect, so do EQ Bank, Tangerine, Simplii and Wealthsimple, and so do most credit unions. You can link several and the balances are added together.

Will this change once EQB moves PC onto the EQ Bank platform?

Quite possibly, and it's the reason to check back. EQB completed its purchase of President's Choice Bank on July 1, 2026 and has said PC clients will move onto the EQ Bank platform once conversion is planned. EQ Bank connects to Lodavo today. We won't put a date on it.

Do I lose my PC Optimum points by using Lodavo?

No, none of them. PC Optimum belongs to Loblaw and runs on your spending, while Lodavo only ever looks at a savings balance at a bank you choose to link. The two never touch.
