If you bank at Vancity, the short answer is yes: your account connects to Lodavo. Vancity is one of Canada’s largest credit unions, with 588,000 members in British Columbia and $41 billion in assets and assets under administration (opens in a new tab) at the end of 2025. Linking a chequing or savings balance takes about two minutes, and your money stays at your own credit union the whole time.

One thing to know before you try, as of September 2026: Vancity connections have been coming back as temporarily unavailable. That’s an outage on the connection side rather than a refusal, so the account is still a supported one and it’s worth trying again. If it doesn’t go through today, link another account you hold and add Vancity later.

How to connect your Vancity account to Lodavo

About two minutes, all inside the app:

  1. Get Lodavo (free) and set up your account.
  2. Choose Vancity when the app asks you to connect a bank.
  3. Sign in through the secure Plaid connection, using the same member card number and password you’d use at vancity.com. You enter those details on that screen, never into Lodavo.
  4. Pick the Vancity account you’d like tracked. Done.

From there, each week you save earns you free tickets in that week’s draw.

Is it safe? What Lodavo can and can’t see

Yes, and the limits are the point. Plaid is the service Canadian apps use to connect to bank and credit union accounts, and Vancity is one of the credit unions Plaid named when it set out its Canadian coverage. Two things hold true at every step:

  • Lodavo never sees or stores your Vancity sign-in. You authenticate on Plaid’s secure screen, and what reaches Lodavo is scoped, read-only access.
  • The access stops at a balance. That one number is what your weekly tickets are based on. Lodavo can’t move money, withdraw, or charge anything, and your Vancity transaction history and other products stay out of it.

Unlink Vancity from inside Lodavo whenever you want.

Which Vancity account should you track?

Connect the account your savings actually sit in. Most members link one of these:

Vancity accountGood to track if
Jumpstart High Interest SavingsYou keep a dedicated savings balance and want it working twice
Total ChequingYour cushion sits in your everyday account
TFSA Jumpstart High Interest SavingsYou save inside a deposit-based Tax-Free Savings Account

Link as many as you like and the balances add up. There’s no minimum to start, and the more you keep in the accounts you pick, the more tickets you collect. The one thing Lodavo can’t track yet is a self-directed investing account, so stick to the accounts where your money sits as cash.

Troubleshooting a Vancity connection

If the link doesn’t go through first time:

  • Use your member card number, not an email address, unless that’s genuinely how you sign in at vancity.com. This is the most common credit union mix-up.
  • Complete any verification step Vancity prompts you with, such as a one-time code sent to your phone.
  • Check you’ve picked Vancity itself rather than a former credit union that has since merged into it.
  • If an account that was linked stops updating, reconnect it from inside Lodavo to refresh it.

Why prize-linked savings fits Vancity members

Canadians aren’t saving much. The household saving rate slipped to 3.5% in the first quarter of 2026, the lowest since early 2024, according to Statistics Canada. A savings balance on its own has never been much of a motivator.

You already picked a credit union that gives 30% of its annual profit back to members and the communities it serves, so the idea of your money doing more than one job isn’t new to you. Prize-linked savings is that idea applied to the saving itself. Keep the money exactly where it is at Vancity, and the balance earns free tickets in a weekly draw worth up to $10,000, with at least $100 always going to a user. Nothing to lock up, nothing to switch, and no cost to take part.

Terms and conditions apply. No purchase necessary (alternate method of entry available). Skill-testing question required. Open to legal residents of Canada who are the age of majority. Odds depend on the number of eligible entries received. Full rules and odds at our contest rules.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to connect my Vancity account to Lodavo?

Yes. You sign in on Plaid's secure screen, so your Vancity member card number and password never reach Lodavo. We can see your balance to award tickets, and that's the whole of it.

Which Vancity account should I connect?

The one your savings actually sit in. Most members pick a Jumpstart High Interest Savings account or their Total Chequing account, and a deposit-based TFSA counts too. Link more than one and the balances add up.

I sign in to Vancity with a member card number, not an email. Does that work?

It does. Enter the same member card number and password you use at vancity.com, on the secure sign-in screen. Credit unions commonly use a card number instead of a username, and the connection handles it the same way.

Does connecting to Lodavo affect my Vancity membership or my share of profits?

No. Lodavo reads a balance and nothing else. Your membership, your dividends, and the 30% of annual profit Vancity puts back into members and communities all carry on untouched.
