If you bank with CIBC, the short answer is yes: CIBC works with Lodavo. CIBC serves 15 million clients and has its own dedicated institution page on Plaid’s network, which is how Lodavo links a Canadian bank. A chequing, savings, or TFSA balance connects in a couple of minutes, and from there, the money you keep saved earns you free tickets in a weekly draw.

How to connect your CIBC account to Lodavo

About two minutes, all inside the app:

  1. Get Lodavo (free) and set up your account.
  2. Choose CIBC when the app asks you to connect a bank.
  3. Sign in through the secure Plaid connection. You enter your details on that screen, never into Lodavo.
  4. Pick the CIBC account you’d like tracked. Done.

From there, each week you save earns you free tickets in that week’s draw.

Is it safe? What Lodavo can and can’t see

Yes, and the design is deliberately limited. CIBC has a dedicated institution page on Plaid’s network, so connecting a CIBC account to an app like Lodavo is a well-worn, read-only path. Two things are true every step of the way:

  • Lodavo never sees your CIBC login. You authenticate through Plaid’s secure flow, and what reaches Lodavo is scoped access, not your username and password.
  • The access stops at a balance. That single number is what your weekly tickets are based on. Your CIBC transaction history, your card, and your other products stay out of it.

Disconnect CIBC from inside Lodavo whenever you like.

Which CIBC account should you track?

Connect the CIBC account where your savings actually sit. Most users link one of:

CIBC accountGood to track if
CIBC chequingYou keep a steady cushion in your everyday account
CIBC eAdvantage SavingsYou set money aside in a dedicated savings account
CIBC TFSA (savings)You save inside a deposit-based Tax-Free Savings Account

Link as many CIBC accounts as you like, and the balances add up. The one thing Lodavo can’t track yet is a self-directed investing or brokerage account, such as CIBC Investor’s Edge, so stay with chequing and savings, where your money sits as a cash balance. The more you keep in the accounts you pick, the more tickets you collect. No minimum to start.

Troubleshooting a CIBC connection

If a connection doesn’t go through on the first try:

  • Make sure you’re entering your current CIBC login details on the secure connection screen, exactly as you would on CIBC’s own site.
  • Complete any verification step CIBC prompts you with (a one-time code, for example).
  • If you actually bank with Simplii Financial, CIBC’s direct bank, pick Simplii Financial in the list instead. It’s a separate institution.
  • If a previously linked account stops updating, reconnect it from inside Lodavo to refresh the link.

Big-bank connections like CIBC’s are well travelled, so most problems clear up on the second go.

Why prize-linked savings fits CIBC customers

Canadians aren’t saving much right now. The household saving rate slipped to 3.5% in the first quarter of 2026, the lowest since early 2024, according to Statistics Canada. Nobody has ever been excited by a savings balance.

Prize-linked savings adds the part that’s missing. Keep saving at CIBC and your balance earns free tickets into a weekly draw worth up to $10,000, with at least $100 always going to a user. Nothing to lock up, nothing to switch.

Terms and conditions apply. No purchase necessary (alternate method of entry available). Skill-testing question required. Open to legal residents of Canada who are the age of majority. Odds depend on the number of eligible entries received. Full rules and odds at our contest rules.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to connect my CIBC account to Lodavo?

Yes. You sign in on Plaid's secure screen, so your CIBC username and password never reach Lodavo. Lodavo also has no ability to move, withdraw, or charge anything on a CIBC account.

Which CIBC account should I connect?

Any CIBC account where money actually sits, with a chequing account or an eAdvantage Savings Account being the usual picks, and a deposit-based TFSA counts as well. You can link more than one. A self-directed investing account such as CIBC Investor's Edge is the one thing Lodavo can't track yet.

I bank with Simplii Financial, not CIBC. Does that still work?

Yes, but connect it as Simplii, not CIBC. Simplii Financial is CIBC's direct-banking brand, and it's a separate institution on Plaid's network. In Lodavo, pick Simplii Financial from the list and sign in with your Simplii details.

Will connecting CIBC to Lodavo change my CIBC online banking?

No. Your login, the CIBC app, and your day-to-day banking carry on exactly as before. Unlink the account from inside Lodavo any time you like.
